Musharraf's political prisoners, on the other hand, are journalists, judges, lawyers, artists and peace activists. "The first people to be arrested after the imposition of emergency were not the leaders of Pakistani Taliban, nor their sympathizers in Islamabad," wrote Mohammed Hanif, head of the BBC's Urdu service.
